New Programs at DYRF Radio Fuerza by March 2014
DYRF is a commercial radio station owned by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) in the Philippines SVD South. It has been on air since 1968. In as much it is owned by our religious order, represented by the Word Broadcasting Corporation, it has intertwined its programs with Christian values. We have just acquired a powerful 12 kilowatt Nautel digital transmitter. With the advent of this top of the line transmitter, our coverage has greatly amplified. We have enveloped totally the whole Cebu province with our broadcast. To date we are also constantly receiving text messages and calls from listeners coming from various towns in Bohol, Ormoc, Leyte, Negros Oriental and Occidental, Surigao del Norte, Siquijor, Zamboanga del Norte, Agusan del Norte, etc. And indeed we are excited even as we celebrate this latest development!
We have revamped our programming to become closer to the Cebuanos and the listeners from the nearby provinces.
A. News Round Up and Balita sa Alas Siete
6:00 AM-7:30 AM (Mon to Fri)
Synopsis:
This is our banner program as we slowly create our niche in the broadcast landscape! The first segment of this news program is loaded with LIVE NEWS REPORTS from correspondents direct from Surigao City, Dumaguete City, Tagbilaran City, Tacloban City, Ormoc City, Dipolog City, Dumagute City, Davao City and of late, Cagayan de Oro City. It gives an early morning pulse of the latest happenings in these key cities in Visayas and Mindanao where in most municipalities we are heard. Peculiar to this news round up is the reporting of the news in their local dialect like Surigaonon and Waray-Waray. The second segment that runs for 30 minutes caps the morning news as the anchors present the latest news in the National Capital Region and around the world.
B. Hulagway sa Among Lungsod
3:00 PM-4:00 PM (Mon-Tue-Thu-Sat)
Synopsis:
Hulagway sa Among Lungsod is a program that sketches a picture of the 44 municipalities in the entire province of Cebu. A town in Cebu will be featured and its Mayor and a councilor during the one hour program interviewed. Profile of the town will be discussed. The officials will be given a chance to share on the air their plans for the town, the direction they are moving forward. They can give the listeners a bird’s eye-view of their programs, successes and challenges. To top it all, they are expected to promote their locality as potential tourism destination. In this manner they will instill a deeper appreciation of the Cebuano culture and heritage, primarily among Cebuanos and also among listeners from nearby provinces. Definitely, we will encourage audience participation particularly those coming from the featured town as phone calls will be entertained from listeners.
C. Kasikas sa Barangay
9:00AM-10:00 AM (Mon-Sat)
Synopsis:
Kasikas sa Barangay presents not just the barangays of Cebu City but ALL the barangays of the 44 municipalities comprising Cebu province and the other 7 cities of the province. This is our way of helping all the Cebuanos increase their knowledge about almost every corner of our province. It wells out the story of each barangay: inception, location, land area, population, and means of livelihood, programs and challenges with special emphasis on education and health services. It is an interview type of program where the anchor engages the barangay captain of the chosen locality accompanied by two of his councilors. This is also open for interaction from listeners specifically from the residents and other barangays as well through phone calls and text messages.
D. Sa Silong sa Kamalig
3:00 PM-4:00PM (Sat)
5:00 AM-6:00AM(Sun)
Synopsis:
Sa Silong sa Kamalig celebrates the life of the farmers with greater emphasis on the graduates of Farmers-Scientists Training Program (FSTP) project. This project developed by Dr. Romulo Davide in the mid-90’s, earned him the Ramon Magsaysay Award of 2012. At the heart of the project is to make farmers scientists. This program is a continuing education for the thousands of farmers who graduated from FSTP scattered in Cebu province, Bohol, Ormoc, Leyte, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Siquijor, Zamboanga del Norte, Negros Oriental and Occidental, etc. The success stories of these farmer-scientists will be celebrated in this program particularly on how their harvests have filled up their barns!
